Very general discussion about absolutely anything at all, go wildly off topic and chuck stuff about. Chit-chat. Witty banter. Crash air-planes. Bring your own "lemonade"

We are hiding in the basement and watching the local news channel.

Power is still on - for now.

It’s supposed to get really bad in the next 5-10 minutes.

The worst has passed us and we are safe and sound. We are out of the basement and going about our day. Hooray.

Some branches down but nothing too serious that I have seen. They had some photos on the news of some buildings in a different part of town that had had some pretty substantial damage though.

Wow! Just read this but also that you are okay. Thank heavens. I live in a cyclone zone so know how scary and dangerous this is.

Best wishes to you all.

There is a massive hurricane bearing down on the Carolinas.

Fortunately, I am well out of the path, although I may get residual rainfall a few days later.

There are over a million people who live in the "mandatory evacuation" area, and even more who are in the "suggested" areas, so relocating everyone is a tall order.

Sitting in what is nearly the middle of typhoon Trami and being most grateful for modern building materials. The most annoying thing is my stash of books is running low! We are very lucky to have such minor issues.

That sounds most uncomfortable. Hope the damage isn't too bad and you obtain some more reading material.

Sounds like time for a visit to Project Gutenberg or similar. Which I just did and noticed the first book cover on the recent additions was called... The Hurricane Hunters. :)
Grateful it is flat calm over here, we have had some astonishingly quiet days this year with an odd deep stillness to them.

Indeed, a wonderful resource with apparently a well developed sense of humour.

Luckily I am not blessed with an overactive imagination so can spend this time gainfully employed rather than fretting. A still day would be quite the change!

I think it is getting that way. We have suffered the usual fools going down to enjoy drinks and music, thinking everything is over, only to discover that it was but the eye of the storm. I have also appreciated the sight of a grown man struggling to heat his food, having discovered that he cannot enjoy meals at a restaurant!
No doubt we shall be out fixing the damage come morning :?
