'I've not seen those particular ones,' Biggles admitted. 'She has other photos of herself scattered around the room. I'm watching superhero movies with her not interrogating her.'
'Major Bigglesworth' said Von Stalhein coldly, 'there are times when I seriously wonder if you were created by the devil just to annoy me.'

"They are holiday snaps, yes, but the woman in the photograph you know as Sophie was born as Sofia Vasiliev. She is the daughter of an English mother and Russian father. Until very recently she has been living in Ireland."

'So' Biggles added bluntly. 'Are you saying that Sophie has an agenda in seeking out my company? Is this the same agenda that all the other very kind women I'm spending time with have or a different one? It's time to stop hinting and say things bluntly.'

"We know Sofia has an agenda in seeking you out. Our Intelligence services listened in on a conversation she had with an official in the Russian embassy. I'm sorry, Bigglesworth, but the moment they knew you had lost your memory they contacted her."

'So, will she seduce me for my secrets?' Biggles said lightly. 'That might be rather enjoyable. Seriously, what is she expected to do when I can't remember anything?'

"We think she might try to arrange for you to 'disappear' with her, ostensibly for a holiday, but in actuality you would be flown out of the country and behind the iron curtain" Raymond informed Biggles.

Biggles narrowed his eyes. 'What aren't you telling me?' he demanded. Raymond was overcome by the familiar feeling of wanting to strangle his chief operational pilot. Even without his memory, Biggles picked up on precisely the points Raymond didn't want him to notice.

Biggles was quite obviously considering options, but he got up to leave without sharing his thoughts any further.

Raymond watched him go, then demanded Bertie tell him what Biggles was likely to do.

Meanwhile, Algy and Ginger were poised to complete the extraction they had been sent to perform, all that was missing was their contact and passenger for the flight home. They waited at the bush airstrip for the landrover to return. "It shouldn't be long now " Algy said, for the fourth or fifth time as Ginger looked at his watch. There was a dust trail approaching from the nearby village. "Maybe that's them ?" suggested Ginger

The two vehicles came closer, and Ginger realised that the pickup had what looked like a heavy machine gun mounted on the back, no-one was manning it, at least he couldn't see anyone, but someone was shooting at the landrover, not only could he hear the shots, the windscreen had disappeared !
It was going to be close ...

"All Aboard ! and grab onto something", yelled Ginger, as he slammed the door behind him and hung on to the nearest set of straps.
And Algy took off, to the accompaniment of the pick-ups big machine gun chattering, luckily the guy firing it had no idea of how to aim at a plane - and Algy had been getting out of the way of bullets for too many years to let his plane be shot in such circumstances ...

Biggles was at the theatre with Isobel. She thought that he must have seen Mousetrap and that seeing it again might remind him of all sorts. Isobel was wickedly sarcastic and Biggles enjoyed her company without caring if he'd seen the play before.

Bertie wasn't home either. He was sitting a few rows behind Biggles and Isobel. Having seen the play before, he could concentrate on seeing if anyone was watching Biggles and Isobel.
