WEJ and 55 Squadron

I thoroughly enjoyed this about WEJ's time as a bomber pilot and his companions. Some great photos of his gang.

And a Big Ditto from me, thanks TS! It's been many yrs since I read the "By Jove" biography, but I recall a lot of 55 Squadron info being detailed in this. WEJ looks positively chubby in 1 photo, I hope there was room in the pilot's cockpit, lol. ;)
They've been working together for so long that each seems to know by a sort of telepathy when another is in trouble. One never seems to get them together. Get one & the others come after him. To give the devil his due they make a formidable team.

Excellent thanks. The 55 Sqn stuff is great. I have "The Chronicles of 55 Squadron" on my shelf but sadly it doesn't mention WEJ at all. This makes up the gap.

It was all new info for me but I am permanently interested in WEJ's flying, both war time and what he got up to post war. One of the pilots in the group photo looked about 12 years old. I also enjoyed the detail in the article of one of the squadrons raids and a letter from WEJ's friend, standing next to him in the gropushot, to his mother announcing his being missing.
