I think the most unusual thing I have in my collection is a pizza menu. It comes from Australia, from a "pizza'n'pasta" restaurant called Biggles in a place called Diamond Creek (any of you Aussies out there know of it?) and most of the pizzas are named after Biggles and Gimlet characters, or have other WEJ or aviation themed names. The front and back covers of the menu have pictures from a couple of the Dean & Sons book covers on them. :)

Cripes! I'd order a Von Stalhein straight away. I wonder what you'd get?

Sadly there isn't one called a Von Stalhein, TS, but the closest one you could have is the "Red Baron" (tomato, cheese, ham, onions, mushrooms & bacon). Will that one do? :)

That sounds quite a bit more like a normal pizza, anyway.

Can you post the menu?

I can try to scan it and upload it as images, but I'm not sure if it'll work, because the menu is laminated and quite shiny, so it might just reflect the scanner lamp. I'll have a go tomorrow morning, when I can connect up the scanner to the laptop, and if it's successful, I'll post the pics.

Here it is K_K, and anyone else who's interested in seeing it. Hope you can read it OK, as some of the smaller print of the toppings has come out a wee bit faint in places.

Sorry TS! :sorry: I wish there had been a Von Stalhein too, but I didn't set the menu! :) If a "Red Baron" doesn't fit the bill, perhaps you'd like to choose another one from the menu? :whatwould:

Wow! That's great Tiff! Australia's such a big place I didn't really expect anybody to have heard of it. I hope it is still there. If you do decide to go and investigate over the holidays, and if it is still there, please could you take a photo? :please: I'd love to see what the place looks like! :apizza: :D

When you said Diamond Creek I did a search, hoping it was in fact the place not far from us. Haven't been there, but that will soon be fixed.

I have been trying to ignore that for two days, Kismet. :flog: Of all the things to call Algy! He is no chicken. His middle name could very easily be brave. I'm not too well pleased with whoever was responsible for the unfortunate titling of those dishes...
"Where the dickens did you spring from?" he inquired.
"Oh, I was just hanging around, you know, in case I was wanted," returned Algy lightly.

Does anybody have one of these? "The Big Box of Biggles"

http://www.bookdepository.com/The-Big-B ... Assignment

As I have all the stories already, I would be buying it solely for the rather cool carrying case, but I can't justify the expense at the moment, as much as I like it.

I bought each of those compendiums as soon as they were released. Would absolutely love the box, but - like you k_k - not sure I can justify it at the moment

So yesterday evening, I was trying to find some old photos of various family members to scan into Ancestry.com, and what should I come across, but this gem:

1738

Apparently my parents got this for me around 1996 or so - but I don't know where or why or how. It's got my name (edited for privacy) at the top, and it's laminated.

I am "Official Member #43" - so presumably there are at least 42 others.

Has anybody else got one?

Also, there is a matching bookmark.

I have never seen one of those KK. It looks great. Had you forgotten about it? There was a Biggles Fan Club of some description connected to a promotion with a breakfast cereal in this country but I do not know anything much about it.

I was given the Big Box of Biggles a few years ago. It kick-started my re-collecting the books. (The first lot went to a jumble sale about 30 years ago)
Its a nice package, 3 volumes with four stories in each (good ones too). Came with a certificate and the box has handles for easy transportation.
Still can't get my son to read 'em though!

It's also out of stock :problem:

Are those "good" editions to get btw?

And have they got EvS in them? :monocle:
