I second that FB, thanks for sharing OzB.
We owe so much to the people who served as this gentleman did; it's important that they know they are not forgotten and that we appreciate all their sacrifices.

Yes I totally agree with the above comments. I think that is one of the best things about this Forum although we lark about a lot we do respect the memory of the people who fought in both the World Wars.

@ OzBiggles1963
Regarding your post of 10 Aug 2016, 13:09 about the Mid Up Gunner of F/O. Gordon Wood Smith's crew.

I think you spoke about
Lewis McGregor Douglas Shaw.
I am working in 514 Squadron memory and archives. I am interested in a copy of any document of which you told as 'pilot's Operations Report Book' and crew photo, also in photos that LMD Shaw could hold, and a copy (good scans) of his logbook.
I have the two books, Nothing Can Stop Us and Striking Through Clouds.
You can PM me.

Veni, vidi, vici is an obvious one, or velle est posse or ad altiora tendo.

There are lots of Latin tags, but I don't actually know which ones are already taken.

Hi Roger,

Just spotted your post...funniiy enough, I was only talking to Louey yesterday. I will be in touch soon, as I need to share with you the 514 Squadron Facebook Page, run by the authors of the 2 books, who may have some further info for you. Unfortunately Lewis is not well [he is 94], & has his affairs handled now by his nephew. Somewhere I may also have some PDF's...will check tomorrow [well later today, lol] & PM when I can. I have it on good authority he is the only 514 chap left in Australia now, sadly.

Kind regards,
Kevin.

Absolutely By Jove! Always amazes what I learn here, & how it has impacted me [& others] in the Real World! Actually, it's a very, very small world since the advent of the internet. Sometimes though, I wish there were still faraway, exotic, 'Biggles' worthy places to find & explore, lol. :D
