My Garden - new Johns' articles found!

Postby DrBiggles » 23 May 2015, 12:31

I have been working on my W.E. Johns web site "My Garden" page which can be seen at the link below.

And I came across an article in the January 1941 edition by a certain John Earlie. This can be viewed here

Now of course, "Jon Early" was a well known pseudonym of W. E. Johns and if one reads this article, you can tell that this slightly differently spelt pseudonym is clearly Johns' work.

This lead me on a hunt through earlier issues of 'My Garden' and I found another article by "John Earlie" in the October 1936 issue of My Garden. You can view that here

I have yet to look at future issues of My Garden, after January 1941 to see if he used the pseudonym again - but it does appear that he was using this pseudonym to write articles for My Garden

other than just his regular column "THE PASSING SHOW". I thought I would pass this information on for those who might be interested .........

This is good news, DrB. I love these Johns articles, thanks for showing in which issues there are more. I have the little book with delightful pictures by Howard Leigh. I think that more than anything else that shows how closely their minds worked together.
